Tailor-made holidays

Christian Adventures Africa offers you the opportunity to tailor-make your own southern African dream vacation. We take care of the details and you can relax and enjoy your holiday. We aim to take our guests to areas of southern Africa, yet undiscovered by crowds of tourists.

Time periods
We offer safaris that range from 2 days to 21 days. Hunting safaris are between 7 and 21 days. River safaris are 2 to 4 days on the water.

Escorted tours
We supply the guide who can help you get the most out of the area you are travelling through. Guides help keep you safe and share anecdotes on everything from animal behaviour tidbits to history of the surrounding areas.

Tour groups
In order to make some of the safaris we offer financially accessible, we make sure that the tour group size is the best it can be. We facilitate connecting tour groups up with each other to a maximum of ten people. However, some safaris require only 2 guests.

Accommodation
We arrange accommodation in luxury hotels, safari lodges, guesthouses, farms or provide tents and camping gear, if required.

Valuta/Currency
Due to the continuous fluctuation of the value of the ZAR, it is easier for us to quote in U$. We hope that clients find this arrangement satisfactory. A 50% deposit is required upon confirming a safari and the rest is payable 14 days before arrival, or alternatively, in cash at the airport. U$ are accepted everywhere in Africa and it is wise to keep some cash handy. Travellers' cheques are accepted at hotels and banks and can be cashed as needed. Never trade money on the street or at curio markets, etc. We will provide opportunities for exchanging money and will advise clients on how much is needed until we reach the next town or bank.

Documentation
We can assist you in obtainingthe correct visas and other documentation for your trip.

Health
With the exception of the Eastern Cape (Karoo), Lower Orange River (Kalahari), Namibia and certain sections of the African Ivory Route, all safaris are conducted in malaria areas. Please consult your medical practitioner before departure. Pregnant women should consult with their doctors regarding taking precautions against malaria. All Christian Adventures Africa vehicles are equipped with first-aid kits, comprising of the basic essentials, but personal medication remains the responsibility of the client. Sanitary necessities are not readily available in some of the remote safari areas. Basics like sunscreen, pain and fever medications, band aids, bandages, insect repellent cream and anti-diarrhoeal tablets, should be brought along in small quantities. Drinking water must be boiled before drinking or, preferably be sealed bottled water. Bottled water is easily accessible in most safari areas and can be purchased when required.

Insurance
Christian Adventures Africa is insured to an amount of ZAR 5 million per incident. Although Christian Adventures Africa will take all necessary precautions to avoid any form of danger or risk, clients are advised to take additional insurance - preferably including evacuations by air, in case of medical emergencies. Guests will be expected to sign an indemnity form before departing on the safari.

Clothing and equipment
Light cotton clothing is most comfortable and long-sleeve shirts for the evening help to reduce mosquito bites. The days are hot to very hot and shorts help to keep one cooler than long trousers. A dual-purpose jacket to keep out the cold and rain is handy. The evenings are generally cool, so we suggest a tracksuit to serve as pyjamas. A good hat with a wide brim is essential. Good all-terrain shoes, as well as a pair of comfortable running shoes is helpful. Don't buy new safari boots just before your departure from home. Make sure that your shoes are worn-in and comfortable. Please bring your own cameras, binoculars, money-belts, sunglasses, etc. Each vehicle is equipped with a full set of safari guides on birds, trees and animals for the convenience of our clients.

Transport
Christian Adventures Africa operates with 4x4 safari vehicles and strives to ensure the best combination of comfort and effectiveness. The terrain does not allow for luxury-style vehicles. Vehicles are equipped with the necessary safari equipment, as well as a basic first-aid kit. Our guides are well trained for handling vehicles under extreme 4x4 and safari conditions and put the safety of our clients first at all times. Transport arrangements are ensured and facilitated to the very last detail on behalf of the client, e.g. when it is necessary to take a domestic flight, if we can not collect you personally, transport will be arranged to and from your accommodation.

Catering
Christian Adventures Africa prepares most of the food while on safari, we cater and serve two meals a day. We serve coffee and something light before leaving camp early in the morning, and we usually enjoy a “brunch” and proper dinner each day. Depending on the location and facilities available, meals are cooked over an open fire and served directly from the fire. Drinks are served with meals, including some of our mous South African wines. Coffee and tea are readily available throughout the day. Special diet preferences (vegetarian, vegan, kosher, etc.) must please be arranged with us when you confirm your booking. Refreshments, including soft drinks, are provided on board the vehicles for the enjoyment of the clients while travelling.
